SUMMARY:104th Birthday Celebration in Honor of Monica Agnew-Kinnaman Veteran of the Anti-Aircraft Artillery Defense During the Battle of Britain
DESCRIPTION:The National Museum of World War II Aviation is throwing a surprise birthday party this Saturday\, February 12th\, at 12 PM … and everyone is invited! The guest of honor is Monica Agnew-Kinnaman\, who served in the anti-aircraft artillery of the British Army during the Battle of Britain\, and she’s turning 104 years old! \nA special presentation by Museum Historian and Curator\, Gene Pfeffer\, will highlight the Battle of Britain and the heroic contributions made by women in this critical time in WWII. In addition to Ms. Agnew-Kinnaman\, the museum will host five other World War II-era veterans at the event. \nAs a member of an anti-aircraft gun crew\, Dr. Agnew-Kinnaman (she later earned a PhD in psychology) helped track German aircraft as they attacked cities and military installations in England. In addition to serving as spotters\, women in the anti-aircraft gun crews also served on predictor teams\, determining the fusing of artillery shells. Dr. Agnew-Kinnaman now lives in Colorado Springs and has written several books about rescue dogs. \nThere is no additional charge for attending the event. Normal ticket prices apply\, but advance reservations are suggested. Purchase tickets at www.worldwariiaviation.org or call 719 637-7559 for more information. \nPlease join us in filling the hangar and making the walls echo with a chorus of “Happy Birthday to You!” as we wish Monica a Happy 104th!
