SUMMARY:Outside Photo Day
DESCRIPTION:On Sunday July 4th\, the National Museum of World War II Aviation will host a special event for photographers and videographers.  Several of the museum’s World War II aircraft and vehicles will be staged outside on the ramp throughout the day for photographs and video.  Weather permitting\, the B-25 Mitchell bomber and the P-47 Thunderbolt will be flown in celebration of the 4th of July and the pilots will be available after the flight for photographs. \nThe aircraft and vehicles will be staged outside on the museum main ramp during normal operating hours—10am to 4pm.  Flight times for the B-25 and P-47 will be subject to weather. \nStaged on the ramp for Outside Photo Day will be the following: \nAircraft \nB-25 Mitchell Bomber \nP-47 Thunderbolt \nDouglas SBD Dauntless \nBeechcraft T-34 Mentor \nWWII Vehicles \n1943 Ford GPW “Jeep” \n1941 M3A1 Scout Car \n1941 M2A1 Half Track \nChevrolet Airfield Crash Truck \n  \nFor more information contact the Museum Front Desk at 719 637-7559

SUMMARY:Special Event - The P-47 Thunderbolt and the Battle for France
DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, July 17\, the museum will open early for a special presentation on the P-47 and its role in the Battle for France.  There is no additional charge for this event—just purchase a ticket to the museum and arrive early so you can be in place for the presentation.  Get Tickets \nThis one-hour event will be held at 9am in the Westpac Restoration Hangar located on the museum campus.  The presentation will be made in front of the museum’s P-47 which will be flown subject to weather conditions and runway availability. \nThe P-47 Thunderbolt was considered by many to be the best fighter-bomber of World War II.  A highly versatile aircraft with excellent handling qualities and extraordinary survivability\, the P-47 played a critical role in the Allied invasion of France and the ultimate victory over Germany. \nThe story of the P-47’s role in the battle for France will be presented by Lt. Col. Ashby Taylor\, USAF (ret.)\, a fighter pilot with 21 years of service in United States Air Force.  Lt. Col.
